Airport – City Center
Rome has two main airports: Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci International Airport) and Ciampino Airport, both well-connected to the city center.
From Fiumicino Airport: The Leonardo Express train is the fastest way to reach Termini Station, taking around 32 minutes and costing €14 one way. Trains run every 15-30 minutes from 6:20 am to 11:35 pm. Alternatively, regional trains (FL1) are available at €8 but stop at other stations, not Termini.
From Ciampino Airport: Take a shuttle bus to Termini Station (40 minutes, €5-€7) or a local bus to Anagnina Metro Station (Line A) to connect to the city center.
Taxi: Fixed fares are €50 from Fiumicino and €30 from Ciampino to the city center. Always use official taxis (white with a "TAXI" sign).
Public Transport System
Rome’s public transport network includes:
- Metro (subway): 3 lines (A, B, and C).
- Buses: Operated by ATAC, widely available.
- Trams: Limited routes but useful for specific areas.
- Regional trains: Connecting suburbs and surrounding towns.
Tickets cost €1.50 for 100 minutes and can be purchased at metro stations, tobacco shops, or kiosks. Day passes are available for €6. Remember to validate your ticket upon boarding.
