Airport – City Center
Lisbon is served by Humberto Delgado Airport (Lisbon Airport), located just 7 km from the city center and well-connected by public transport.
By Metro: The Red Line (Linha Vermelha) connects Lisbon Airport to the city center in approximately 20 minutes. A single ticket costs €1.50, and the metro runs from 6:30 am to 1:00 am.
By Bus: Several bus lines connect the airport to key areas in Lisbon, including the Aerobus (Line 1), which runs every 20 minutes and costs €4 one way. Public buses, such as lines 744 and 783, are a cheaper option at €1.50 per ticket.
By Taxi: Taxis are available outside the airport terminals. A ride to the city center costs approximately €10-€15. Always use official taxis.
Public Transport System
Lisbon’s public transport system is efficient and affordable, including:
- Metro: 4 lines (Blue, Yellow, Green, and Red) covering the city.
- Buses: Operated by Carris, they connect all parts of the city.
- Trams: Iconic yellow trams, like Tram 28, are a must-try.
- Trains: Connect Lisbon to nearby towns like Sintra and Cascais.
A Viva Viagem card is highly recommended. It costs €0.50 and can be loaded with credit for metro, buses, and trams. A day pass costs €6.40 and provides unlimited travel on public transport for 24 hours.
